چکیده

We present a detailed 3D kinematic analysis of the central regions ($R<30''$) low-mass and dynamically evolved galactic globular cluster NGC 6362. The study is based on data obtained with ESO-VLT/MUSE used in combination adaptive optics module providing $\sim3000$ line-of-sight radial velocities, which have been complemented Hubble Space Telescope proper motions. quality number available velocities allowed us to detect for first time significant rotation signal along line sight core amplitude $\sim 1$ km/s peak located at only $\sim20''$ from center, corresponding $\sim10\%$ half-light radius. This result further supported by detection tangential anisotropy innermost regions. one most signals ever observed date. also explore rotational properties multiple populations hosted this find that Na-rich stars rotate about two times more rapidly than Na-poor sub-population thus suggesting interpretation present-day require multi-component chemo-dynamical approach. Both position would fit qualitatively theoretical expectations system lost fraction its original mass because long-term dynamical evolution interaction Galaxy. However, match observations quantitatively studies initial are needed.

Kinematics of Globular Cluster Systems

I review the field of globular cluster system (GCS) kinematics, including a brief primer on observational methods. The kinematical structures of spiral galaxy GCSs so far appear to be broadly similar. The inferred rotation and mass profiles of elliptical galaxy halos exhibit a diversity of behaviors, requiring more systematic observational and theoretical studies.

VLT Observations of the Peculiar Globular Cluster NGC 6712 , III : The Evolved Stellar Population

We present extensive UBVR photometry of the Galactic globular cluster (GGC) NGC6712 obtained with the ESO Very Large Telescope (VLT) which reach down to two magnitudes below the main sequence turn-off and allows us for the first time to determine the age of this cluster. By using the apparent luminosity of the zero age horizontal branch (ZAHB), VZAHB = 16.32 ± 0.05 and the stellar main sequence...

Globular Cluster Metallicity Subpopulations in NGC 4472

Bimodality is a common feature of globular cluster (GC) color distributions in galaxies. Although it is well known that the GC system of the Milky Way is bimodal in metallicity, this has yet to be directly demonstrated for an elliptical galaxy. We use Lick index measurements from the literature to derive metallicities for 47 GCs in the giant Virgo elliptical galaxy NGC 4472. The resulting distr...

Globular Cluster Candidates in NGC 891 1

We use deep images taken with the Advanced Camera for Surveys on board the Hubble Space Telescope of the disk galaxy NGC 891, to search for globular cluster candidates. This galaxy has long been considered to be a close analog in size and structure to the Milky Way and is nearly edge-on, facilitating studies of its halo population. These extraplanar ACS images, originally intended to study the ...

Dwarf galaxies in the Dynamically Evolved NGC 1407

The NGC 1407 Group stands out among nearby structures by its properties that suggest it is massive and evolved. It shares properties with entities that have been called fossil groups: the 1.4 differential between the dominant elliptical galaxy and the second brightest galaxy comes close to satisfying the definition that has been used to define the fossil class. There are few intermediate lumino...
